For sports enthusiasts, prolonged quarantine is tough. If you really need to get into a quarantine, there are many things you can do to kill time. Here I would like to share my ideas from a sports-loving person’s point of view.
First: Goal. Set up a goal before you get into a quarantine. Some people like to read or learn a new language, but I would prefer doing something I haven’t done before. For example, to run a full marathon or to bike for 180 km before getting out. It sounds crazy, isn’t it? If there is a goal, people would be motivated to challenge themselves to achieve that goal. Renting sports equipment to upkeep your physical strengths during quarantine time is recommended.
Second: Change your mindset. Confinement in a room for a prolonged time would probably make you feel frustrated or upset. Even if you have sports equipment in the room, you might soon lose interest due to repetitions. During this time, I suggest you watch some inspirational sports-related films online. Remind yourself you are so fortunate to be able to do sports during a quarantine. The process could be boring and repetitive, but I would regard it as a mental endurance challenge. If you can get through this, you will find yourself elevated to a next level in your training journey.
Third: Reward yourself. Whenever I finish a difficult training, I would order a dessert or something I like to eat to reward myself. This will make myself even more motivated for the next training. In this way, quarantine will be easier and behind you in no time.
Your attitude determines your altitude. If you must get into a quarantine, try to find fun things to do and always be optimistic. Cheers!
